I want airship opera to catch on.<br /><br />As I have said, my favorite thing about steampunk is its optimism. It takes place in a past with a bright future. I find apocalyptic steampunk to be pretty boring, and even that is more optimistic than most stuff in that genre. Mostly, steampunk stories just throw characters of whatever class and gender the author finds interesting into a story that would probably be pretty unlikely in the real Victorian age, and throw in lots of action and shiny machines.
